This week we continue our journey through the gospel of Matthew with the story of Jesus walking on the water from Matthew 14: 22-33 https://bit.ly/3OPiByk. Elder Nancy Siewert will preach on “When Faith Fails.”

On this first Sunday in August, we welcome Pastor Katie back after a few weeks away and celebrate the sacrament of communion together as well. Our scriptures are Isaiah 55: 1-3, 12-13 https://bit.ly/3QkbCPj and Matthew 14: 13-21 https://bit.ly/3Oik7Yj, and the sermon is titled “A Catering Problem.” Georjeanna Wilson-Doenges will share her beautiful voice in a solo for special music: “Come to Jesus” by Chris Rice.

On this final Sunday in July, we again welcome Nancy Zorn Micke to the pulpit while Pastor Katie is away. More parables of Jesus are our focus, with Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52 https://bit.ly/3ObNpaX as our scripture. Nancy will preach on “A Glimpse of Heaven” and is also going to play a Native flute for some of our music.

This week we welcome Pastor Nancy Zorn Micke to the pulpit as guest preacher while Pastor Katie (and 13 others from our congregation) are at Synod School in Storm Lake, Iowa. Our scripture focus is Matthew 13: 24-30, 36-43 https://bit.ly/3O2lQ49 and the sermon will be “Weeds or Wheat—Pick One”

On Sunday July 16th we are privileged to ordain and install new deacons and elders for this congregation, and pleased that Bruce Deadman will provide special music on the euphonium for the service. Our scripture focus will be Romans 8: 1-11 https://bit.ly/43p7tfR and Pastor Katie will reflect on the question “What Will You Do?”

“Come to me, all you who that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Jesus’ words from Matthew 11: 25-30 https://bit.ly/3rkcQQc will focus our attention on the scriptural mandate to rest in these lazy days of summer, while Pastor Katie’s meditation “If the Yoke Fits” will help unpack a way to do it together as the family of faith.

On this holiday weekend we will celebrate the sacrament of communion by intinction (dipping the bread into the cup) and focus on Psalm 63: 1-8 https://bit.ly/43XGfxQ and Matthew 10: 40-42 https://bit.ly/44k5uKw. Pastor Katie will reflect on “Overflowing Hospitality” and there will be a special gift for each person present in worship!

On this last Sunday of June, we will consider what Jesus has to say about fear as we read Matthew 10: 26-31 https://bit.ly/3Jppx21 and Psalm 27: 1-4, 11-14 https://bit.ly/44cdmOg. Pastor Katie will reflect on “Fear and Faith.” We are pleased to have Kris Melton providing our piano accompaniment.

On this Second Sunday after Pentecost, we reflect on “Healing Mercy” with Matthew 9: 9-13, 18-26 https://bit.ly/3NixYyL. Matthew Thorne continues as our guest organist, and Kris and Mike Melton will provide a special music arrangement of “There Is A Balm In Gilead.”

It’s Trinity Sunday this week, so our scriptures are Matthew 28: 16-20 https://bit.ly/3oDJif8 and Psalm 8 https://bit.ly/3oNnrls and Pastor Katie will help us consider the doctrine of the Trinity with the reflection “A Dance Lesson.” We recognize our high school graduate Eric Sperduto in worship and also celebrate the sacrament of Communion.
