Overview
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, First Presbyterian Church of Green Bay gathered in a spirit of joyful remembrance and hopeful celebration to mark an extraordinary milestone — 150 years of faith, ministry, and mission.
The sesquicentennial worship service opened with the stirring sound of bagpipes leading a festive processional, setting a tone of reverence and festivity as members, former members, and special guests filled the sanctuary together. Worship leaders Becky Christianson and Katie guided the congregation through an opening proclamation that wove together the story of God’s faithfulness across generations — from creation and covenant to the living, breathing community gathered in that place.
The service journeyed through prayers of confession and assurance, scripture readings from Psalm 145 and 1 Corinthians 3, and a choral anthem of Grace Alone, before Pastor Katie Estes delivered a sermon titled “The Grace of the Builder,” anchoring the anniversary theme in the image of God as the foundation upon which 150 years of ministry had been built.
The congregation offered their tithes and gifts with gratitude for those who came before them and commitment to generations yet to come, then shared together in the Lord’s Supper — a fitting capstone for a day rooted in both memory and mission.
The service closed with the hymn Lift High the Cross, a choral blessing, and a recessional that sent the gathered community out, renewed in purpose, to continue the work God had called them to for the next 150 years
