April 19, 2026 – Baptism – “Instructions For Living An Easter Life”

Overview

On Sunday, April 19, 2026, First Presbyterian Church gathered for the Third Sunday of Easter, a morning filled with joy, reverence, and new beginnings. Pastor Katie Estes led the congregation through a meaningful worship experience centered on the Road to Emmaus story from Luke 24:13-35, preaching a sermon titled “Instructions for Living An Easter Life” that called worshippers to recognize Christ’s presence in their everyday journey.

A highlight of the morning was the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism, a powerful reminder of God’s claim on each of our lives, along with a special children’s time led by Joel Morien. The congregation was lifted in praise through hymns including “We Know That Christ Is Raised” and “Day of Arising,” while the special music “Marching to Zion” by Gordon Young stirred hearts toward hope and celebration.

Linda Michael shared a Sesquicentennial Story as part of the church’s ongoing 150th anniversary commemorations, and the service closed with a charge and blessing sending the congregation out with renewed faith to be witnesses of the risen Christ in the world


April 12, 2026 – Carroll Chamber Singers – “Speaking Peace”

Overview

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, First Presbyterian Church held its Second Sunday of Easter worship service at 10:00 a.m., featuring special musical contributions from the Carroll University Chamber Singers. Directed by Dr. Jeremiah Cawley, the visiting choir enriched the liturgy with beautiful choral pieces, including John Rutter’s “Lord, Make Me An Instrument of Thy Peace” and Moses Hogan’s “We Shall Walk Through the Valley in Peace”.

Pastor Katie Estes delivered a sermon titled “Speaking Peace” based on the Gospel of John, while the congregation participated in traditional elements such as the Call to Confession, Passing the Peace, and singing classic hymns like “Thine Is the Glory”. The service beautifully concluded the Chamber Singers’ weekend visit and served as a meaningful gathering amidst the church’s ongoing 150th-anniversary celebrations.


April 5, 2026 – Easter Sunday – “Who Do You Want?”

Overview

The Easter Sunday Festival of the Resurrection at First Presbyterian Church in Green Bay was a joyful and hope-filled celebration of Christ’s rising, beginning with festive music, a warm welcome, and a responsive call to worship that invited the congregation to meet Jesus in new life and peace.

The service included prayers, the singing of beloved hymns, a children’s time, the reading of John 20:1-18, a choral anthem, and a sermon that reflected on the meaning of the resurrection, before the congregation shared in the Lord’s Supper, gave thanks for God’s blessing, and was sent out with a final hymn and benediction to proclaim the good news of Easter.


April 3, 2026 – Good Friday – Tenebrae Worship

Overview

On April 3, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., First Presbyterian Church in Green Bay, WI, held a Good Friday worship service. Led by Pastor Katie Estes, the evening began with gathering music, a welcome, and a prelude of “Nearer My God to Thee” before the lighting of the candles.

The congregation participated in responsive and unison readings, including a Call to Worship, an Opening Prayer questioning the suffering of the day, a Prayer of Confession, Words of Assurance, and Sharing the Peace.

The heart of the service was a Tenebrae ceremony featuring seven candles, interspersed with scripture readings from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and hymns such as “Go To Dark Gethsemane” and “O Lord, Hear My Prayer”. After the Pastoral Prayer, the Lord’s Prayer, and a postlude titled “Organ Motet for Holy Week,” the congregation departed in silence once the sanctuary lights came up.
