Sunday School Resumes January 9

Sunday School

All children aged Kindergarten through 6th grade are encouraged to attend our weekly Sunday school.

During worship, children are invited to the front of the sanctuary where a children’s message is shared. Children are then dismissed to attend Sunday School during the sermon and remainder of worship. Children will return to their parents in the sanctuary once service concludes.

During class, children learn a different spiritual lesson each week and teachers of that lesson are a rotation of volunteers that generously donate their time and talents.

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer teacher, please contact Joel Morien at ce@firstpresgreenbay.org or call 920-437-8121 ext. 112

New Member Class

New Membership January 23, 2022

A new member class has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 23 following worship and the fellowship hour. If you might be interested in becoming a member of First Presbyterian Church, come join Pastor Katie for lunch and conversation!

This class will include a brief introduction to our congregation and its ministries as well as our larger denomination, the Presbyterian Church (USA). No tests, no requirements—just a chance to consider what it would mean to become a member here and to meet others who are also visiting regularly. So that we can order box lunches for those who attend, please let us know if you can join by contacting the office at 920-437-8121 or office@firstpresgreenbay.org.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Judy Knutzen-Nerad Advent Wreath

The Sanctuary was all decked out in beautiful décor for Advent, and the Worship Committee extends a heartfelt thank you to Judy Knutsen-Nerad for the complete refurbishment of the Advent wreath and its candles as well as the matching addition of new wreaths, swags and flowers for the season.

The lovely blue and silver colors were a stunning statement throughout the Sanctuary. We are also grateful for all who contributed to the beautification fund that purchased lovely white poinsettias for this year. We were truly surrounded by the beauty of God’s grace!

Blessings of Baptism

Lyla Elizabeth McCormick baptism

Sunday, November 28, was a beautiful day for a baptism, and we were privileged and honored to share the sacrament with Lyla Elizabeth McCormick and her parents Ben & Ashley and big sister Grace. Proud grandparents Loni & Pat McCormick looked on while Lyla’s aunt Katie McCormick and her friend Davis Vanderlin stood as sponsors.

Each time we baptize a new little one we are reminded of God’s loving care for each one of us, from our earliest days and throughout our lives. “See what love the Father has shown us, that we should be called the children of God, and so we are!”

Bible Study begins January 12

Bible Study January12,2022

Start the new year off right by joining our new Bible study on the Gospel of John! We will gather on Wednesday nights online and Thursday mornings in person to study the book Reading John for Dear Life by Jaime Clark-Soles. The study begins on Wednesday January 12 at 6:30 p.m. & Thursday January 13 at 11:00 a.m. Books are available for purchase from the church office for $10. Contact us at office@firstpresgreenbay.org or call 920-437-8121 to reserve a copy.

This study will take us on a dynamic journey deep into the heart of John in a lively reading of the Fourth Gospel. Clark-Soles provides important historical and literary insights while illuminating the dramatic characters in John and emphasizing the Gospel’s unique themes and symbols. Her engaging writing style will generate enthusiasm and investment in John’s message, and enrich our spiritual journeys while opening us up to Jesus through the words, stories, questions, symbols, and characters we encounter in John’s Gospel.
