PRESBYTERIAN PANTRY CONTINUES

August 10 & 24, 10 am – noon

You can drop donations in the narthex on Sundays or at the office Mondays-Thursdays between 9:30 and 2pm at First Pres Church on 200 S. Ashland Avenue. The pantry is inside to serve our guests, with precautions posted for everyone. Following CDC Guidelines, masks will now be optional for those fully vaccinated (two weeks following the second dose). If you’re not vaccinated, for whatever reason, we ask that you continue to wear a mask.

Thank you for helping us honor safety procedures. Our main goal is to provide food for guests..safely. Please continue to use the door on Howard Street.

The Pantry is on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. ALL are Welcome!

Brat Fry Volunteers NEEDED!

The Outreach Committee will be hosting a Brat Fry on Saturday, August 14th but we need your help to make this a success!

Located at Festival Foods on University, there will be two volunteer shifts from 9am to 1pm and 1pm to 5pm. If you can help out as a volunteer, please contact Kevin Kabacinski at 920-619-4458. And, as a thank you bonus, all volunteers receive a FREE brat!

This year’s Brat Fry proceeds are designated for the Presbyterian Pantry.

We’re hoping for good weather, hungry passerby’s and outstanding volunteers to feed them.

Thanks in advance for considering to help!

Have you driven by lately?

Our outreach extends beyond our front doors into the neighborhood. Each week a new thought provoking message displays on our front lawn marquee. If you haven’t driven in the neighborhood lately you can always catch our latest message on Facebook or Instagram.

We’d love your input on messages to share. Get creative! Contact the office at office@firstpresgreenbay.org or (920) 437-8121 and share your thoughts on messages we could include.

Congratulations Jenn & James!

The love and best wishes of our congregation are extended to Jennifer Christianson and James Leonard (and daughters Katia and Natalya) on the occasion of their marriage on July 9th in the Sanctuary. The happy family resides in Oshkosh but we hope to see them around sometimes. Proud parents of the bride are Becky & John Christianson. The wedding ceremony is available to watch on our Facebook stream or by going to the church website and clicking on “worship archive” to find the recorded service.

Coffee Fellowship – With a Twist – is a Hit!

On Sunday, Sunday, June 6th, we resumed having a modified Coffee Fellowship time after worship. It takes place outside on the church lawn and features coffee and lemonade along with pre-packaged snacks. Some tables and chairs are set up for those who prefer to socialize while seated. Our committees are taking turns hosting throughout August, and Coffee Fellowship will be re-evaluated for fall. Coffee Fellowship will not take place if there is inclement weather.

Our fellowship is a great opportunity to visit and catch up with others after worship while enjoying our beautiful summer weather so join us. Please reach out to the church office if you are not part of a committee but would like to help out this summer with Coffee Fellowship.

Hosts for August are:

  • August 1st – Technology Committee
  • August 8th – Stewardship Committee
  • August 15th – Deacons
  • August 22nd – Worship Committee
  • August 29th – Christian Education Committee

Save the Date

Excitement is building for this year’s Presbyterian Week of Action, which takes place August 23-29. It will lift up all who’ve been the target of hatred and discrimination.

“Shades of Oppression, Resistance and Liberation” is the theme of this year’s event, which is being coordinated by the Rev. Shanea D. Leonard with the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Bearing Witness team and other interested parties. Check out our Facebook & Instagram for daily updates that week!

Digital Changes Underway & Coming Soon!

The Communications and Marketing Committee is excited to share that we’re working on building a new and improved website! After receiving several bids, the contract was approved by Session and awarded to Packerland Websites.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on what our new site should include. Tell us what you like, what you’d rather do without and what we’re missing in our existing website. Your input will help us build the best digital channel for you! Take a look at other websites and get some ideas to share with us. Email your thoughts and suggestions to communications@firstpresgreenbay.org.

Back To School Drive for Tank

August 1-31 are the dates for the Tank Back to School supply drive! Tank Elementary School is one of the most ethnically diverse and needy schools in the Green Bay public school district. First Pres has “adopted” Tank and has a long history of supporting and interacting with the school and students.

Every child should have new pencils, crayons, glue, etc. for school. The list of supplies can be found here and a printed copy is also located on the table in the narthex. There will be a table at the back of the Sanctuary to deposit your donations when you are here on Sunday, or any other day Monday thru Thursday 9:30 am to 2:00 pm through August 31st.

We can also shop for you if you’d prefer – checks should have the notion BTS supplies and if online, choose “other” fund and note BTS.

THANK YOU for your support!
